About this artwork
I painted this piece to catch the feeling of standing on a hillside just as everything starts to wake up. The colours came first for me, that messy, joyful mix you get when wildflowers overlap and nothing follows a perfect pattern. The mountains in the back are calmer, almost like they’re watching over the scene. I wanted the whole painting to feel alive and a bit spontaneous, the way nature looks when it isn’t staged or prepared for anyone. It’s…
