About this artwork
Triptych, monotype with ink and acrylic paint behind Plexiglas.
The Decalcomania theme includes several series of images that examine the specific properties and expressive qualities of this aleatoric process for image production.
This series consists of six sculptures, each representing a triptych. Each work has a color from the primary area or the secondary area as its basic tint. These are acrylic paints, which take the picture motifs as a… background. The pictorial motifs are created by decalcomania of colored inks that are applied to a Plexiglas plate. Due to their special character, the motifs develop an associative aura of floral or landscape figurations that build relationships with each other within the individual works, but also within the series. The respective other monochrome backgrounds arouse different emotions and keep the figurations in a state of limbo.

« It is important to me, in addition to the means and techniques chosen, to allow chance to influence the creation of a picture. It provides both inspiration and strength. »
Klaus Decker is an artist based in Germany whose works have been extensively exhibited nationally. He describes his works as being influenced by "serial thinking". He approaches varying themes through different series, though Decker's main interest lies "beyond the fringes of painting". Through each piece, he endeavors to create a specific visual language through the choice of "picture carriers", as well as motivic and technical elements that transcend the boundaries of conventional painting, questioning the traditional image structure.
