About this artwork
The painting refers to the legend of Orpheus and Eurydice. It shows Eurydice emerging from the realm of the dead without Orpheus. Orpheus has promised not to look back at her, because only then can he return to the living with his beloved. Rainer Maria Rilke wrote a poem about this moment that is very similar to this painting (the artist will be happy to send you the complete poem! >Contact: www.kk-feuchtinger-kunst.de):
"...She walked..., her… step limited by long funeral bands, uncertainly gentle and without impatience. ..so full was she of her great death, which was so new that she understood nothing. She was already unraveled like long hair and given up like fallen rain and distributed like a hundredfold supply. She was already a root. And when suddenly the god (Hermes) stopped her and spoke with pain in an exclamation the words: 'He has turned around' - she understood nothing and said quietly: Who?"

Klaus Feuchtinger is an established German painter with a strong love for France and Italy. His predominantly abstract works are characterized by a dense color palette. Feuchtinger creates his painterly messages with broad and sweeping brushstrokes. But he also likes to take "excursions" into a representational style of painting, which also comes close to surrealism. He sees his paintings as "inventions" whose exploration and interpretation he likes to leave to the viewers of his paintings.
