About this artwork
Many expeditions have failed miserably in their search for a suitable passage. Today the Northwest Passage is ice-free, because we have robbed the Arctic of its innocence over the past decades and, in our own interests, we cannot stand idly by and watch its demise.
In his speech at the opening of an exhibition in 2014, Dr. Roland Held aptly noted that “this painter has, so to speak, undertaken an inner cruise and brought back images of an Arctic… that has never existed and never will exist in exactly the same way.”
« Each painting challenges me: it tells me what it wants me to do and when to rest satisfied. »
Klaus Feuchtinger is an established German painter with a strong love for France and Italy. His predominantly abstract works are characterized by a dense color palette. Feuchtinger creates his painterly messages with broad and sweeping brushstrokes. But he also likes to take "excursions" into a representational style of painting, which also comes close to surrealism. He sees his paintings as "inventions" whose exploration and interpretation he likes to leave to the viewers of his paintings. Visit his website, which he shares with the artist Karin Feuchtinger: www.kk-feuchtinger-kunst.de Do you have any questions for Klaus Feuchtinger?
