About this artwork
As a child, I always enjoyed turning the bicycle pedals and enjoying the movement and the sound. I captured this childlike joy and fascination in my work of art "E-Bike".
The artwork consists of a single bicycle pedal mounted vertically on a stable base. The pedal is powered by a DC motor that is controlled by a controller and a 5V power supply. The random control ensures that the pedals change their speed and direction unpredictably.
The title… "E-Bike" is a play on words and refers to another kind of "E-Bike" - an electric and artistic interpretation. With "E-Bike" I want to encourage the viewer to think about the role of technology in our lives. The unpredictable movement of the pedals symbolizes the unpredictability of life and reflects the complex relationship between man and machine in our modern world.
