About this artwork
Perhaps the first time we understood the importance of global warming was the moment we saw a polar bear's anxious eyes about his life and habitat on a torn glaciers stock.
The frenzy of producing and consuming more than what we need is destroying our globe, even if everyone dont be aware of his or her responsibilities about this issue, maybe we will have to share the sadness of the polar bear's eyes.
This artwok was prepared in a minimal form… with a minimum number of pieces in order to understand how clear the subject is.
The surface is also painted with titanium white oil paint and brush strokes that cut each other. The other parts are painted in a minimal form of black to capture the contrast.

Koray Akay is an established Turkish sculptor who has exhibited his work internationally. His love for art began as a child, when he would design and recreate his own toys. Today, his primary focus is on presenting the synthesis between East and West, communicating this through a range of themes including political, environmental and spiritual topics. Akay mainly works with wood, allowing its unique energy to guide him, but also frequently experiments with new techniques to endow each artwork with a fresh expression.
