About this artwork
The sculpture represents Pegasus - the winged horse from the Greek mythology. The hero Bellerophon managed to subdue Pegasus using a golden bridle given to him by the gods. With the help of his winged friend, the hero accomplished astonishing feats, which brought him glory. The tail of Pegasus is tied in a knot signifying that Bellerophon has already tamed him. The sculpture depicts a classical Greek style stallion figure, with his strong wings spread.…
He is standing on two of his hoofs on a granite pedestal. I have tried to evoke the feeling of an ethereal creature, which is rather floating in the air like an eagle, rather than stepping heavily on the ground. The limbs and body of Pegasus are elegant and agile, with very fine engravings on them. The patina colour ranges from rusty brown to golden, making the animal look as if bathing in the dusk light. The sculpture is suitable for people interested in culture and art.

« To me, art is the filter through which I watch the world and it makes it a better place. »
Krasimir Krastev is a sculptor based in Bulgaria whose works have been exhibited nationally. It is the stories of Greek mythology that inhabit his consciousness, much like a parallel reality. Krastev's realistic figurative and animal pieces are fantastical in nature, while also referencing antiquity. His bronze and stone sculptures are created using the lost wax technique.
