About this artwork
This artwork features a stylized aspen tree. A stand or group of individual aspen trees is considered a singular organism with the main life force underground in the extensive root system and serves as a metaphor to examine human individuality amidst community.
Materials used include: acrylic paint, mesh, bamboo, glass tiles, rice paper, and hand blown glass, collected from local artisans -not sharp or dangerous. Canvas has been cut around leaf… shapes to allow light to escape from LED lights mounted behind the canvas. This artwork may be viewed both in daylight and in darkness.
