About this artwork
This piece is an abstract comprised of origami cranes, hand folded by the artist using Japanese Chiyogami hand silkscreened paper. The paper is acid free and coated with UV protective varnish to resist fading over time. Other materials utilized for this piece include: satin cord, handmade mulberry paper, glass tiles, handcrafted ceramic tiles, genuine freshwater pearls, and hand blown bits of glass collected from local artisans-not sharp or dangerous.…
Edges are finished and no framing is necessary. Piece is lit from behind with commercial grade copper LED lights, to create essentially two pieces of art, one to be viewed in daylight, the other in darkness. Each piece comes with certificate of authenticity, along with suggestions for installation and care.
Folded cranes have symbolic significance in some cultures. They are sometimes used to symbolize hope in challenging times, happiness, good fortune, luck, good health, or peace.

Kris Lee is a painter and textile artist based in the United States whose works have been exhibited nationally. The recurring themes in her works reflect her lifelong passion, obsession, and reverence for nature, as well as her adventures in the Rocky Mountains of Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado.
