About this artwork
This piece features a cut out drawing of a crow, with the title "Overthinking." The piece explores the concept of finding calm amidst surrounding complexity and anxiety. This piece has commercial grade LED lights attached to the back of the canvas, allowing the piece to be enjoyed in daylight and also in darkness.
Materials used include: shredded magazines, acrylic paint/mediums, charcoal coated with cold wax, bristol board, cut paper, porcelain… tiles, rice paper, bamboo, electrical wire, and hand blown glass collected from local artisans (not sharp.)
Edges are finished with strips of magazines, triple varnished and covered with UV protectant to resist fading over time.

Kris Lee is a painter and textile artist based in the United States whose works have been exhibited nationally. The recurring themes in her works reflect her lifelong passion, obsession, and reverence for nature, as well as her adventures in the Rocky Mountains of Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado. In addition, Lee's distinctive compositions explore the human place within the natural world. She creates using acrylics and collage on canvas.
