About this artwork
At first glance, this piece appears to be forged from raw metal—textured, weathered, and industrial. Yet on closer inspection, it reveals an unexpected twist: the entire composition is crafted from carefully treated plastic, transformed into a material that convincingly mimics aged metal.
Set against a warm, rust-toned backdrop, the central grid is built from hundreds of individually shaped fragments. Each element is cut, layered, and manipulated… by hand, creating a rich three-dimensional surface full of depth, movement, and contrast. Subtle tones of bronze, charcoal, deep red, and metallic hues interact with light, constantly shifting the perception of the work throughout the day.
This piece plays with perception and materiality—challenging the viewer to question what they see. It combines the visual strength of industrial metal with the lightness and versatility of modern materials, resulting in a work that is both bold and innovative.
