About this artwork
I carve stone, but what I’m really trying to carve is movement — the feeling of something alive, unfolding, in motion. Stone is heavy, ancient, still. But I’ve always been drawn to the challenge of bringing something so solid to life.
This piece is part of that search. It’s inspired by the quiet shapes I see in nature — wind folding through fabric, leaves unfurling, water curving around rock. Those soft, organic movements that never repeat themselves,… that always change depending on how you look.
As you rotate this sculpture, the reflections shift — light dances across the surface, shapes emerge and disappear. It looks different from every perspective. Some angles feel delicate, others powerful. And even though I polish parts to a mirror-like shine, I always leave some of the raw stone untouched — to keep a trace of where it came from. In this case, a deep green stone that only reveals its true color in the right light.
