About this artwork
In this painting, I wanted to create a moment of intimacy between awakening and abandonment. The young woman, lying on her bed, stares at the viewer, establishing a direct connection with him. She embodies the conscious presence of the scene, while the cat, asleep beside her, evokes withdrawal and tranquility. The roles should have been reversed: the woman immersed in sleep and the cat awake, observing the world.
