About this artwork
The “Rusty Bark Caterpillars” drawing is the fourth of the series “Forest Gentle Blends”. The series explores textures of the nature in a hybrid association with everyday textures, bringing nature to the urban environment. Sometimes creatures (nautilus), sometimes processes (foam), those organic textures from different environments (sea, air, forest), interact with our lives creating a bridge between worlds and their elements to form new fantastic…
forms and to lessen the separation between the human environment and nature.

« I am a surface pilgrim. I see the surface as the most delicate outer representation of an inner state. And through this exploration of the subconscious, I learn and rejoice. »
Lali Torma is an established painter and drafstman born in Romania who has exhibited her work across Germany. Considering her journey as "art by doing" and primarily influenced by North American Abstract Expressionism, she composes pieces centred on interests in color and gesture, and seeks to explore connections to the subconscious. She generates new surfaces through repetitive movements and an intuitive approach. Torma's resulting aesthetic is a multi-dimensional space marked by rich colours and powerful patterns.
