About this artwork
The sculpture is more than just a form. With every detail I tried to capture the tension between down-to-earthness and departure. The dove's wings represent peace and purity, the longing for freedom. I deliberately designed them to be delicate and light, in contrast to the solid body and the heavy fabric that seems to be moving in the wind. The hand that grasps the metal rod shows the moment of pause - not out of doubt, but as part of the process…
before the figure rises.
Working with the materials allowed me to make this duality visible. The metal provides strength, the fabric and the wings speak of movement and lightness. It is not a contradiction, but an interplay that brings the figure to life. For me it is an expression of strength and fragility, a symbol of man's eternal striving for something greater, without losing touch with reality.
