About this artwork
This painting is a childhood memory that always returns with unexpected clarity. My sister and cousin are climbing a structure on the beach, a kind of rope pyramid, on a luminous spring afternoon when time seemed to stretch out and there were no worries beyond the game. I'm interested in that mixture of fragility and freedom that children have when they climb too high without realizing it. The light falls cleanly, unobstructed, and envelops everything… with a simplicity that still moves me today. I paint from there: from the memory that remains, from the calm of a seemingly small moment that, with the years, becomes essential.
Laura Benedito Bernat, trained in portraiture and landscape painting with oils, has her family roots in the arts. She develops her meticulous style through layered painting, focusing on light, color and composition. She surprises with her emotional vision of the everyday, exalting beauty in the simple and trivial.
