About this artwork
Allotment life is thriving in the city of Bristol where Laura lives. Not only does an allotment provide a place for city people to grow their own fruit and vegetables, it is an escape from the stresses of city life and and an opportunity to be close to nature.
In this series, Laura explores the random shapes and patterns within an allotment .. old sheds, bean poles, light, as it hits the top of compost bins. Often seen as messy and random, Laura's… challenge was to highlight the beauty of this organised chaos.

« I try to simplify what I see and allow the paint to guide me in exploring mark making and gestural brushstrokes that convey feeling rather than representational information. »
