About this artwork
This view is from an area called 'Severn Beach' where Britain's longest river meets the Bristol Channel. A regular early morning dog walking spot for Laura, this view is 180 degrees right of the view in her other tribute to the Severn Estuary called 'Chasing the Dawn'.
Of significance to local wildlife, this area is an international feeding station for migratory birds, with the 'original' 'Old Severn Bridge' visible in the distance. A bridge that… links England with Wales. In this painting, Laura has allowed her original mark making (done at under-painting stage) to have a voice, as she continues to layer colour upon colour. With a sense of the fast moving water of the estuary and maturing cool light rising over the horizon line of the 'Old Severn Bridge', all the while evoking the call of curlews and other mud feeding birds that forage at the water's edge.
