About this artwork
The Champs Elysees is the "boulevard of the Elysian Fields" where, according to Greek mythology, special heroes were placed. The image itself is reminiscent of a hunting scene - are these the heroes enjoying themselves or is it the animalistic nature that melds them with the vaguely depicted animals? Few colors with the focus on the "flesh color" and the high degree of abstraction dominate the picture.

« The movement between worlds, real and the imaginary, distinguishes me as an artist, it is the attempt to conjure up life with the images of my unconscious, my "primeval sea". »
Laura Stadtegger is a painter and draftsman based in Germany whose works have been exhibited nationally, in Austria and in England. Fascinated by myths, archetypes and philosophy, she describes the recurring themes in her art as being messages that affect people all over the world. In Stadtegger's most recent compositions, she often begins her artisitc process by covering her canvases in a thick layer of white oil paint, into which she models her motifs with an almost sculptural manner.
