A group of people surround a couple, is it lovers?, bathed in light or even flames, in great contrast to the crowd crowding in the background and partly in the foreground. Is it a gesture of resistance to the crowd or is it even a scandal? has the couple descended into a dimension of their own while the others are excluded? What do couples or individuals who fall out of line mean to society?

Laura Stadtegger is a painter and draftsman based in Germany whose works have been exhibited nationally, in Austria and in England. Fascinated by myths, archetypes and philosophy, she describes the recurring themes in her art as being messages that affect people all over the world. In Stadtegger's most recent compositions, she often begins her artisitc process by covering her canvases in a thick layer of white oil paint, into which she models her motifs with an almost sculptural manner.
