About this artwork
This small-sized painting is one of the first, if not THE first interpretation of the aesthetic and emotional shock provoked by my meeting with the Cargos of Istanbul in 2004 and their immediate "call" to chart their course in my work. Surprise nevertheless: while I had in mind a colorful and shiny translation on metal of these ships, my hand was giving birth to this semi-abstract and bluish appearance!
On reflection this early painting was actually… closer to what I had first seen: towering ships floating away in the glistening mist of the Sea of Marmara.
