For Laurent Noel, art is a means of resilience in the face of the dramas and upheavals in life. The French painter, draftsman, and printmaker always places the question of the time of the painting at the center of his creative process. Calligraphic variations of his own texts are often inserted into his compositions. Noel’s techniques are a blend of oriental and occidental, employing ink on rice paper as well as marouflage on canvas and oil glaze.
