About this artwork
Hotel Marna - Monument Abusively demolished the 14.01.2014
The building was an example of the Bucharest Art Deco architecture, whose value is given by the consistency of the architectural details of the facade and its location, near the Tirgoviștei station, the current North Station (Gara de Nord), the main rail node of Bucharest. Built at the end of the 19th century, the Marna Hotel is part of a group of buildings with elements of Art-Deco facade… architecture, present not only by chance in this area, but as a testimoniy for the rapid pace of development sustained because of the economic importance of the Grivița-Buzești-Uranus area for Bucharest. On the ground floor of the hotel there was a restaurant with traditional Romanian cuisine.
