About this artwork
House Miclescu - Monument It preserves the original façades and interior fragments
A historical monument of the picturesque Bucharest from the beginning of the 20th century, House Miclescu was designed in 1900 by the great Romanian architect Ion Mincu (1852-1912), following the comission of the painter George Demetrescu Mirea. Unfortunately, the painter did not have the financial means to carry out the project and sold the house to counsel Jean Miclescu,… descendant of a family of nobles of Moldavia, who left it as a legacy to his son, colonel Radu Miclescu, and his wife, Elsa Florescu. The Miclescu House became an important place for meetings, parties or balls for the personalities of Romania but, later, the coming of communism completely changed its destiny.
