About this artwork
Villa dr. Patzelt - Protected area No. 28 Demolished abusively in October 2013
According to the historian Andrei Pippidi, Dimitrie Ghika, a personality of Romanian diplomacy, lived in this house with his brothers Vladimir and Alexandru Ghika. The building was built in 1890 after the plans of architect Oscar Benis. According to a study history comissioned by the Order of architects, Bucharest, the building should have acquired the status of a historical… monument, but the Ministry of Culture did not issue any decision until its demolition. Neoclassical architecture and the location of the villa in a garden of generous proportions, rich decorations at the level of the cornice, the columns buried in masonry and the statues on the facade were an example of architectural elegance between the two wars.
