About this artwork
The small property located in Orzari st., flanked by apartment buildings and stands out due to it's contrasting uniqueness with the urban development of Bucharest, The Small merchant’s house seems torn from a forgotten story of an unknown Bucharest, having something archaic and peasant like to it. The monument was built in 1859. The style is that of modest houses, specific to the plain of the Danube. It seems that the house had belonged to Ion Ceganu,… a captain of Tudor Vladimirescu ‘s army. It's position is not accidental, as it is located in the former outskirts, near the Vergului barrier and the Bucur Fair. It's a modest dwelling with porch and five large arches on pillars of wood, the only house in Bucharest still preserving its architectural features of that time.
