Lauriane Itoua is a painter born in Saint Petersburg to a Bulgarian mother and a Congolese father. Her work explores the human figure, which she treats with a deliberate directness and a restrained tension.
Her compositions, often centered on isolated portraits, give the bodies a sculptural presence. The silhouettes emerge from contrasting backgrounds, where light is constructed through clear lines and precise highlights.
