About this artwork
The piece was made after Herman Henstenburgh. My work is connected to the region I live in and to its history, to the “golden age” of the region. Paintings, tapestries, decorations, deemed “kitsch” today were adapted versions and provincial transcriptions of items from larger cultural centres. I allude to pseudo-versions of these in the language of contemporary art, with incorporated elements of pop and street art, drawing parallels between time…
