About this artwork
“Summer ’26” is a self-portrait created in mixed media by a process that combines a graphic print and direct intervention through drawing. The work begins as an experimental Chinese woodcut, followed by a calligraphic ink drawing, mounted and completed when dry with colored pencils.
Cold blue tones and warm orange create a bond between inner experience and the atmosphere of late summer. A ray of sunlight crossing the face in the same time reveals… and transforms the portrait, putting emphasis on a face hidden in a shade of a broad summer hat.
