In the artwork “Through Her Own Eyes” the mirror no longer flatters or lies. It becomes part of her face, replacing her eyes and forcing her to see herself as she truly is. Red handprints frame her gaze marks of all the times she tried to protect, hide, or hold herself together. The threads across her… eyes connect and restrain at once, symbolizing the thin line between seeing and being seen. This is the moment when she stops reflecting what the world wants and begins to look at herself through her own truth.
This artwork is a part of the series “My borders”. This series explores the female experience through roles, expectations, and inner conflicts. It reflects the emotional and physical survival of women in the modern world, where care, vulnerability, and strength exist at the same time.
