About this artwork
This painting reflects my childhood memories of riding the subway in my hometown of Philadelphia, PA. I played with the angles of the train and platform, as well as the reflections in the windows. I poured my heart into capturing the fleeting energy and blurred connections of a moment in the subway. This piece brings warmth and movement, inviting your space to breathe with the rhythm of everyday life’s subtle emotions and vibrant hues.

Leah Thompson has been a professional artist and elementary school art teacher in Roanoke, VA for over 20 years. She specializes in creating colorful and expressive oil paintings. She is best known for her impressionistic paintings of ballerina dancers. Leah also paints vivid genre paintings, landscapes, and florals as well as commissioned works. Though oil paint is her primary medium of choice, she enjoys working in acrylic, pen and ink, and oil pastel.
She lives in the city with her husband, Jon, and her son.
