About this artwork
This painting is inspired by the epic love story of Alexander the Great and Hephaestion. Alexander was so heartbroken at his passing he gave up the will to live and followed him shortly to the afterworld. I was also inspired by the encaustic paintings found in Pompeii. I wanted it to feel like a found lost treasure.

« Forging art out of heat with creative abandon fuels my soul. »
Len Collins is a Canadian painter who uses encaustic wax in order to express his deepest thoughts and feelings. He has previously worked with an art therapist in order to focus on his creative energy and evoke the emotion of his inner demons. His use of hot wax comes from a desire of intense color and textural density.
