About this artwork
This piece is inspired by the story of Nero raging as Rome burnt around him. I have visited Rome many times and for some reason the idea of one man causing so much destruction to culture has always resinated with me. This piece is a marriage of acrylic and encaustic wax. It is a very intense and vibrant piece.

Len Collins is a Canadian painter who uses encaustic wax in order to express his deepest thoughts and feelings. He has previously worked with an art therapist in order to focus on his creative energy and evoke the emotion of his inner demons. His use of hot wax comes from a desire of intense color and textural density.
