About this artwork
Work created on paper glued onto canvas and mounted on a wooden frame. The work is surrounded by a passepartout as a fake frame (painted in light blue and white outlines). A woman carrying on her head a basket with fruit (citrus fruits, in particular), depicted in a countryside landscape. In creating this work, I drew inspiration from the bold vibes of Fauvism, mixing them with a figurative style that captures the human essence in a vibrant and unique… way. The use of oil allowed me to explore a palette of intense colors that reflect the strong emotions and passion of the woman with the basket. This image is not just a portrait, but a symbol of strength and vitality, destined to bring a jolt of energy and color to any space in which it is placed.
Len Vernaghi, originally from Porrentruy but deeply rooted in Italy, is a multidisciplinary person: painter, photographer, designer, textile artist, engraver, sculptor. He stands out for his portable fresco technique, combining traditional pigments with alternative solutions, and uniting contrasting themes and styles. Her works reveal a powerful socio-political commitment, giving voice to frugality, nature, femininity and marginal places, with an atmosphere of wonder derived from her dreamlike subjects.
