About this artwork
I created this work to explore the union between life and death, expressing a vibrant and symbolic energy with acrylics and tempera. The figure represents the duality of existences, where nature and bright colors blend with dark elements, inviting reflection on the perpetual cycle of life. In Greek mythology Melpomene (in ancient Greek: Μελπομένη, Melpomènē) was the muse of tragedy, daughter of Zeus and Mnemosyne, also known for her relationship with Dionysus. Its name derives from the ancient Greek μέλπομαι and means "to celebrate with dances and songs". Some legends maintain that the Sirens were born from her union with the river god Archeloos.
