The subject of the painting is a glimpse of the historic center of Turin di Sangro (CH), a small Abruzzo town located on the Abruzzo coast. In particular, we see the Church of Maria Santissima di Loreto in the foreground. The town is also well known for the "Sangro River War Cemetery", located between the Lecceta reserve and the historic centre, built in 1946 in conjunction with the Canadian cemetery of Ortona, in memory of the battle of the Sangro,… which took place along the Gustav in the plain of the same name, and fought especially in Casoli, Gessopalena, Taranta Peligna and Montenerodomo. The painting is made with oil, acrylic and gouache on paper; It has a height of approximately 44.3 centimeters and a width of 33.2 cm. The urban landscape is intertwined with the historical one, immersed in the colors of the town and its rurality.
Len Vernaghi, originally from Porrentruy but deeply rooted in Italy, is a multidisciplinary person: painter, photographer, designer, textile artist, engraver, sculptor. He stands out for his portable fresco technique, combining traditional pigments with alternative solutions, and uniting contrasting themes and styles. Her works reveal a powerful socio-political commitment, giving voice to frugality, nature, femininity and marginal places, with an atmosphere of wonder derived from her dreamlike subjects.
