About this artwork
Dieses Gemälde ist eines von vielen meiner Werke, in denen ich das Thema Gleichgewicht und Harmonie zum Ausdruck bringe. Für manche geht es um die Abholzung der Wälder und die zerstörerische Haltung gegenüber der Natur; für andere um den Übergang zwischen Leben und Tod, über den wir etwa ab der Hälfte unseres Lebens nachzudenken beginnen. Ich habe lange über die Beschreibung nachgedacht, denn all diese Gedanken kamen mir während des Malprozesses.…
Für mich persönlich geht es in diesem Gemälde um den Übergang zwischen zwei Lebensabschnitten, um einen Wendepunkt und darum, wie nach der Dunkelheit das Licht kommt. Es ist ein Weg durch einen toten, vom Feuer versengten Wald hin zu Licht und neuem Leben. Ich habe glitzernde Pigmente verwendet, daher variieren die Effekte je nach Blickwinkel, Tageslicht und Lampenlicht.
