About this artwork
In this vibrant oil painting, I invite you into a playful yet deeply symbolic domestic universe. My goal was to completely reimagine the traditional kitchen scene, transforming everyday elements into a whimsical celebration of fertility, life cycles, and abundance through the lens of Symbolic Ethno-Surrealism.
The centerpiece is a stylized, patterned golden hen balancing gracefully on a sliced boiled egg—a surreal nod to the eternal question of… creation. Next to her, a checkered blue and white plate holds ripe red cherries, while a majestic, bursting ripe pomegranate stands topped with a golden flower, symbolizing wealth and prosperity.
I framed this joyful scene within a dynamic diamond layout, surrounded by a swirling border of deep cerulean blue waves. Every inch of the canvas is covered in a complex, textured mosaic background composed of intricate pointillism and oriental ornamentation, designed to bring warmth and magical folklore into a modern sophisticated interior.
Li-Safi Mariya is a painter from Tashkent, trained in Uzbekistan’s leading art institutions and renowned for her academic and teaching background. Her symbolic ethno-surrealist and fantastic realist style fuses intricate pointillist mosaics with meditative ornamentation, juxtaposing smooth central figures against dense, vibrating backgrounds. Her artworks explore ancient mythology, everyday rituals, and the merging of science with folklore, evoking a profound sense of sacred calm and inviting viewers into visual labyrinths of wonder and memory.
