This is a typical Venetian bridge, with figures seated, two in a small blue boat and two on the walls near the bridge, looking out over the canal. Many people, from a distance, see an Egyptian eye. The truth is that the central format is a fan, widely used in ancient Venice by women on walks. In these paintings, I used the centre as a focal point, inspired by the Japanese film director Yasujirō Ozu (1903-1963).
