About this artwork
Distant Silence depicts a quiet, contemplative landscape where atmosphere takes center stage. Soft layers of acrylic blended with chalk create a velvety, almost weightless sky, where pale blues, greys, and muted rose tones drift gently across the canvas, evoking slow-moving clouds over an open horizon.
Below, the land is formed through textured, earthy hues—browns, deep reds, and smoky blacks—applied with rough, tactile strokes that contrast with… the softness above. This interplay between smooth and rugged surfaces creates depth and distance, suggesting a vast, silent terrain.
Rather than representing a specific place, the work conveys a sense of stillness and space.
