About this artwork
“Duci” is a Sicilian word that I love deeply.
It means sweet, tender, affectionate. It's a word that doesn't just refer to taste, but to a feeling of the soul: something that consoles, that makes you feel good, that warms the heart.
Repeating it twice, Duci Duci, is like insisting on happiness, like saying: stay, don't go away.
In this work, I wanted to convey a simple and luminous joy, made of free, slender, light flowers that grow without constraints.… An emotional garden, more than real, where color becomes language and the pictorial gesture becomes a caress.
The canvas is born from multiple layers of paint: beneath the final colors live at least three pictorial layers, built up over time. I love working in layers and generously, using large quantities of acrylic, often straight from the tube. For me, the material is a conscious choice: each layer remains, interacts with the next, and gives depth to the work.
