Mystique explores intuition, ancestral presence and the quiet power of inner perception. I created this piece as a timeless figure, suggestive of something instinctive and enduring rather than tied to a specific identity or era.
The face carries a calm, steady gaze, marked with symbolic lines that reference heritage, memory and lived experience. These markings are not narrative, but rhythmic, guiding the eye while hinting at layers of meaning held… beneath the surface.
At the centre of the composition sits the third eye, rendered in a restrained electric blue. It acts as a focal point of awareness, representing intuition, insight and the unseen forces that shape perception.
Carved directly into solid wood, the grain and natural character of the material remain visible, allowing the figure to feel as though it emerges from within the surface. The work speaks softly of knowing, mystery and inward vision, inviting contemplation rather than explanation.
