This work is a collage on a wooden board, consisting of two superimposed surfaces: the twenty paper fragments on a wooden support, and the methacrylate that covers them and also serves as the support for the main element. There is approximately 10 cm of separation between the two layers, so that the shadow of the observing eye (painted on the methacrylate) is included in the work as an immaterial and ever-changing element.
The work alludes to the… gaze in a dual sense, both internal and external. The different moments we see and experience are observed, either in the immediacy of direct experience or through the personal filter of memory, in an incessant flow of images, thoughts, and emotions.
This work has been a finalist twice, the first time in the V Eixo Atlántico do Noroeste Peninsular Painting Prize (Galicia and Portugal) in 2002, the second time in the I José Lamiel Contemporary Art Prize, in Calanda, (Teruel), Spain, 2025.
