About this artwork
"Broken Wings" stems from a reflection on human vulnerability and the ability to transform pain into a new form of freedom. The title doesn't suggest an end, but a moment of metamorphosis: the exact point where fragility ceases to be a limitation and becomes the foundation for new inner strength. In this work, I chose acrylic for its ability to capture the immediacy of the gesture. I worked in layers, alternating textured brushstrokes with lighter… glazes, creating a visual contrast that reflects the duality between the heaviness of the fall and the lightness of flight. The use of chromatic contrasts serves to guide the eye to the emotional core of the composition.
My goal is for the viewer to see not just a wound, but a resilience in action. "Broken Wings" invites us to look beyond imperfection, finding beauty in what has been marked by time.
Lorena Lolli is a painter with a background in architecture and extensive international experience; in her work, she primarily uses ink, Indian ink, and acrylics on canvas. She experiments with a mixed media that dances between dreamlike fluidity and vibrant texture, alternating Zen-like transparencies with bold brushstrokes to explore the abstract and the surreal. She paints interior landscapes and portraits of the soul, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. Her creations convey a powerful sense of universal connection, inviting the viewer to cross the threshold between conscious and unconscious, rediscovering light and beauty in the present.
