About this artwork
The protagonist of this painting is a wave crashing on the rocks of Marina di Pisa, on the Tuscan coast, during a storm.
I painted it entirely with a spatula, to best capture the energy and power of the water, shaping the wave with color, just as a sculptor models clay, and playing with the contrast between its light and the leaden sky.
This is because for me the sea is first and foremost movement, and so I wanted to represent the wave as a real… body in motion, as well as a mass of water.
Tuscan painter devoted to the beauty and culture of his homeland. Inspired by both Impressionism and the contrasts of Baroque painting, which he rediscovers in the light of the Italian landscape, he developed a style halfway between realism and expressionism. The absolute protagonist of his paintings is light, which investigates nature in detail, until revealing its metaphysical face. He prefers the oil on canvas technique, using both brushes and a palette knife, and loves painting en plein air and among people. In 2025 he started two important collaborations with Samsung The Frame TV and LG GalleryTV+, thanks to which his works can be viewed all over the world.
