Original oil and acrylic painting by Dutch artist Lotte Teussink
This original painting Troy is a large canvas measuring 100 x 140 cm (55" x 39.4"). It is painted in 2018. First I made a small pencil sketch in my sketchbook, after which I transferred this idea with charcoal on the white canvas. The background is painted with acrylic paint, the rest is oil paint. It is a dark figure with multiple heads and a tree like body covered with a highly detailed… scale like pattern.
'Troy' was made especially for an exhibition in Belgium in 2018. Usually I think of a title after a piece is finished. In this case I was thinking about how different moods and thoughts can be like a Trojan horse inside an individuals' mind

Lotte Teussink is a gifted Dutch artist who has exhibited her work throughout the Netherlands. Taking an instinctive approach to the creative process, she explores how the subconscious is made visible through art: different phases of life, emotions and changes are revealed. Teussink's mark is a mix of different styles: there is a touch of folk and gothic, and similarities can be found in current contemporary movements such as pop surrealism and lowbrow art. No matter the technique or style, each of her pieces are striking, fantastical and marked by a distinctive aesthetic.
