The Release is the artists creative expression of how it felt to come out of Covid lockdown after 3 months after not being able to see friends or family. The composition is designed to reflect liquid or an abstract material falling or pouring out of something that the viewer cannot quite see. The painting is highly textured and was painted using only 4 colours to make an array of light and dark shades to show depth and interest to depict the gravity…
of the emotions felt. The painting aims to create interest for the viewer as they start at one point and move their eye around the full picture, unsure of where to stop. Yet, at a glance, the painting is harmonious and appears 'still'.
