About this artwork
Louis approached this painting with an experimental/spontaneous approach. He started by applying numerous coats of gesso and metallic bronze paint to premium 18 ounce banner material, using squeegee and water. He was pleasantly surprised with the "background" that appeared. For the composition, he decided to leave a lot of negative space between the shapes. paintings, and this presented the perfect opportunity. This is a very beautiful painting reminiscent of mid twentieth century design. The dull metallic background acts as a neutral ground for the flat, bright colors to really sing. Very animated and bold.
