Touching The Surface' is part of a collection of paintings that explore light, reflections and distortions in water. The collection has been a natural development from my 'Glass Reflections' range where light and patterns play a huge role in my creations. Louisa J Simpson loves the way that glass and water convey the shapes and colors of other objects. Through bold shapes and patterns, she fills her compositions with color and light. Simpson creates using oils and builds transparent, semi-transparent, and opaque layers through the glazing technique, allowing subsequent layers of color to shine through. Waiting for each coat to dry allows her to create intricate levels of detail.
