About this artwork
The interplay between the controlled line and the unpredictable pours in this and other works by Lowell Boyers, is one thing which makes his work exciting. The figures - here just a fragment, an extending arm and hand, a vessel, a wing, an oar, a fence, - are "among" the lush bursts of color and oozes of energy, but it's hard to say what gives rise to what: is it the figural gesture summoning the other elements or are they conjuring forth the figure?…
When I look at his work, I'm struck first by their intense visceral beauty, but also by this compelling ambiguity.”

« "Making visible that which is invisible is interesting to me. I use painted marks like musical notes on a page to orchestrate some experience that the viewer can see in themselves." »
Lowell Boyers is an American painter who has extensively exhibited in both solo and group events throughout the United States and Germany. Within his works, he seeks to portray the ‘countless textures of the world of perception’. Through liberating and colorful imagery, Boyers’ ‘innerscapes’ reveal the blooming landscapes of the heart and mind. When creating, he employs the pouring technique with multiple layers of color using acrylics, resin and ink, then adds finer details and imagery.
